Description
BIG JOHN pioneered Japan’s first domestically made jeans in 1965 and later developed the first Japanese denim fabric in 1972, cementing its legacy in denim history. No account of the global denim industry would be complete without mentioning BIG JOHN’s contributions.
The story began over 70 years ago in Kojima, Okayama—now known as Japan’s denim capital. Originally founded as Maruo Clothing, Inc. in 1940 by Kotaro Osaki, the company started as a uniform manufacturer before evolving into the denim powerhouse that became BIG JOHN.
