Description

BURGUS PLUS is the house brand of Hinoya, a store that opened in 1949 in the post-war black market that became Ameyoko in Ueno, Tokyo, and that has dealt in vintage and Japanese denim ever since. Osamu Taniguchi started the label in 1997. The name comes from the medieval Latin burgus, a fort — the idea being a stronghold of well-made things, with “Plus” added for what comes next. The brand describes what it makes as the ultimate basics: vintage from the 1930s to the 1960s taken as the standard, then pushed somewhere new rather than reproduced line for line.
