DENIME’s XX-type is its reading of the pre-1966 Levi’s 501XX. This pair carries the D-HG1118 tag, a lot number collectors associate with the years before the brand came under Orizzonti — the late 1990s, when the Japanese replica boom was at its height. The denim is a 14.5oz selvedge that fades fast and openly, which is what made DENIME the way a lot of people first understood what vintage American denim was supposed to look like. Founder Yoshiyuki Hayashi started the brand in 1988 and later left to found RESOLUTE.
