KD-007 by ZEN, the Kyoto brand launched in 2005 by Kyoden — the pioneer of hand-painted Kyo-yuzen jeans. The dragon is painted entirely by hand in the yuzen technique of Kyoto’s kimono trade, work that cannot be mass-produced and that only artisans seasoned in that craft can execute, so each painted pair is one of a kind. Sakura blossoms are embroidered onto inset panels of contrasting cloth at the front hip pocket, back yoke, waistband and left back pocket, and the jeans themselves are sewn in Okayama, the home of Japanese denim.
