The Authority of Blue
Jeans Sommelier
More than a certification. It is a testament to obsession.
Born in 2014 in the holy land of denim manufacturing—Okayama, Japan—the Jeans Sommelier qualification is not easily earned. It is a title reserved for those who have mastered the entire journey of a pair of jeans.
A true Sommelier understands the chemistry of indigo dyeing, the mechanics of vintage shuttle looms, the agriculture of cotton varieties from Zimbabwe to Memphis, and the complex history of workwear evolution.
But above all, they possess the hospitality to match the perfect pair to a person’s life. Only a select few who pass the rigorous national examination held by the Okayama Apparel Industrial Association earn this honor.

Five-Star Sommelier
This platform, MTKN, is operated by Moto Fujikawa, a rare existence even within the professional Sommelier community. He has not merely passed the examination once; he has conquered it five times, earning him the prestigious Five-Star status.
His selection process is uncompromising. He chooses only brands that weave on slow vintage looms and sew with rare Union Special machines. When you choose a pair from MTKN, you are trusting the eyes of a master who knows every thread, rivet, and fade potential.
