Description
Cushman by Sportswear – Lot 22177
Cushman by Sportswear is the creation of Yukihiro Shiraki, a devoted fan of hot rods, surfing, and vintage American sportswear from the 1930s to the 1960s. Based in Hashima City, Japan, Cushman collaborates with some of the country’s most skilled small-batch manufacturers—where quality, detail, and craftsmanship take precedence.
The Lot 22177 denim is a faithful reinterpretation of a classic 1950s straight leg silhouette. These standard-cut jeans are constructed from rugged 13.5oz selvedge denim, woven on vintage shuttle looms. Made from 100% cotton, the fabric delivers excellent durability and promises to develop beautiful, high-contrast fades over time.
The design is rich with thoughtful, period-correct details. The coin pocket is trimmed with red selvedge on the inside, while the front features subtly faded metal buttons and V-shaped top-button stitching that enhance its vintage appeal.
The back showcases a clean, stitch-free design, a nod to the iconic WWII-era 501xx models. Subtle touches like hidden back rivets and a premium deerskin leather patch reflect Cushman’s meticulous attention to detail. A red tab embroidered with “C⋅MAN” appears on the right back pocket, and the inside pocket features a “UNION LABEL” tag as a tribute to American workwear heritage.
Although this model is one-washed to minimize initial shrinkage, the denim retains its rigid character and will break in beautifully with wear. Designed for vintage denim aficionados, Cushman’s Lot 22177 jeans fuse Japanese precision with rugged Americana, offering a timeless piece that’s built to be worn and loved for years to come.
