HANDS ON’s original jeans based on the 1947 501XX.
The specifications are World War II.
This is a variation of the S47 featuring black denim fabric and all-black cotton stitching. The rayon tab is an original, mud-dyed (natural dye) piece produced exclusively at the Hands-On workshop.
The owner, Yamaguchi, cuts, sews, and finishes them all by himself.
All sewing is done using vintage sewing machines to reproduce the stitching of the time.

BREAKING IN YOUR S47BK
Black denim ages differently from indigo. Instead of fading to a lighter blue, the wear points — whiskers, knees, seat — gradually develop deep charcoal and grey tones. The contrast is more subtle and understated than on the S47, which is exactly the appeal.
Don’t be afraid to wash them. Yamaguchi-san recommends regular washing for all his jeans — it helps the fabric last longer and allows the fade to develop evenly. With black denim, consistent washing is especially important for maintaining the overall depth of colour.
